I’m a social media manager, creator, strategist, and enthusiast.
I’ve always loved social media. I created my first Facebook group in 2007 for my classmates who loved the tv show House — we called it the Vicodin Support Group. As I’ve developed my career, I’ve been more and more drawn to social media as a tool for engaging with other people.
After beginning my career in social media at TIME for Kids, I came to Scholastic as the corporate social media manager. This meant coordinating content from business partners across the company, strategizing social campaigns, managing posting schedules, and creating social videos.
Now, as Director of Community and Customer Service, I focus on community engagement on our dozens of social media channels, ensuring that consumers are engaged with our content.
Here are some of my favorite posts and campaigns.
Book Party
For a year, I hosted an Instagram Live series called #BookParty, interviewing authors about their new releases. Each month, I spoke to 2-3 authors about their books, advice for writers, and what they wanted readers to take away from their work. The series was a hit among authors and viewers alike.
Watch them all on Instagram.
World Read Aloud Day
A global social event created by non-profit organization LitWorld, powered by Scholastic. For two years, I developed the social plan for the campaign, worked with other business managers to create assets and a posting cadence across multiple channels, wrote the social copy and calendar, and scheduled the posts.
Abbott Elementary
Scholastic got the opportunity to work with hit ABC show Abbott Elementary, to provide books to teachers. I coordinated with our philanthropy team and ABC to share our work together.
